Protective Pongs
This article is pending translation
A smartphone and tablet cover promising to improve signal strength, maintain battery life, and protect against radiation exposure launched has launched this summer.
Pong cases, which are available for the iPad, iPhone and other smartphones, is the first and only case that claims to protect devices as well as boost 3G/4G reception, improve signal strength and download and upload speeds, and increase range — all whilst reducing end user exposure to radiation.
Pong cases are the creation of an international team of scientists with unique expertise in the fields of plasma physics, environmental science, electrical engineering, antenna design and health sciences. Among their breakthrough discoveries, Pong’s scientists gained an understanding of how to “redirect” radiation through the use of electromagnetic fields — the very science now embedded into every Pong case.
The cases, which are available for iPad, iPhone, and Blackberry and Android phones, are available in different colours and finishes. The cases also provide durable protection, shock absorption and scratch protection.
I trialled a Pong cover for my iPhone 4, and have found performance to be improved, which is particularly useful as I’m on the 3 network which hasn’t been the best since I switched from O2 18 months ago. The cover is stylish and durable and fits the phone like a glove.
Most users of mobile phones are unaware that over 50% of the radiation emitted by their phones can be absorbed into their heads and bodies. The absorption of this “near field” energy not only disrupts the signal necessary for the phone to communicate with a mobile phone tower, but also underlies increasing concerns among physicians, scientists and lawmakers who believe this exposure to be a health hazard. It’s difficult to say if the Pong helps in this area, but any progress towards reducing potential health risks posed by mobiles can only be a good thing.
Pong covers are priced from £39.99 and are available from www.ponguk.com.

If I didn't have to do so much saving this year, I'd get one! 3's signal is awful, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. The signal drops nearly every phonecall I make and if the person I'm talking to also has 3 (like my dad) then there's practically no chance of us having a phonecall whatsoever.

This is a brilliant idea. Kinda sucks that their focus is mainly on Apple products though -- I want one for my HTC Desire HD!

This is silly, phone radiation is almost unharmful, we should stop eating banannas if we're going to start getting worried about nothing like this. The case looks like rubber anyway, thats not going to do much. Non-ionising rays.
